Objective To explore the effect of play therapy on language rehabilitation in children with generalized developmental delay（GDD）. Methods Fifty-two children with GDD admitted to the pediatric rehabilitation department of our hospital from December 2017 to December 2019

were selected as the subjects and divided into a control and an observation group using the random number table method

with the control group receiving language cognitive comprehensive training. The observation group was given game therapy on the basis of the control group. Gesell Development Scale and S-S method were used to test and analyze the language development quotient（DQ） before and after treatment in both groups of children. Results After treatment

the DQ of language domain of Gesell Development Scale in both groups was higher than before（P<0.05）

the improvement of children in the observation group was significant and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant（P<0.05）.Language expression in the observation group was significantly better than the control group after treatment（P<0.05）. There was no significant difference in language comprehension and operation ability between the two groups（P>0.05）. Conclusion Play therapy combined with comprehensive language cognitive training can significantly improve the language expression ability of children with GDD.
