Objective To study the effect of climatic changes on the incidence and treatment of sudden sensorineural hearing loss by retrospective analysis. Methods 282 cases of sudden deafness in Hainan province were collected and their data were statistically analyzed to study the difference of onset time and treatment results among the population and subgroup. Results The average age of 282 patients was 47.25±16.95 years old. There were 190 cases in the healthy group and 92 cases in the basic disease group. There were more patients in the dry season and less in the raining season
with the most in March and the least in May. Although the overall incidence had no obvious impact form the climate change
the incidence of basic diseases was more concentrated in dry season(P<0.05). The types of hearing loss in the dry season and rainy season are mainly flat decline type and total deafness type. The effective rate of basic disease group was lower than that of healthy group. Conclusion Sudden deafness with basic diseases was more likely to occur in the dry season
and the treatment effect of this group of patients was relatively poor. Therefore
in dry season
such people needed to pay more attention to protection.
