摘要:ObjectiveTo report the implementation of an integrated medical-educational program combined with low-intensity focused ultrasound (LIFUS) in a preschool child with mild autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and to describe changes in behavior, functional brain connectivity, and social adaptation.MethodsAn exploratory single-case pre-post design without a parallel control group was used. A boy aged 4 years and 9 months received 20 sessions of LIFUS targeting the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex over 4 weeks as an adjunct to ongoing integrated medical-educational training, with 12 program sessions delivered during the same period. Descriptive assessments were conducted at baseline, immediately after completion of LIFUS, and at the 12-week follow-up using behavioral rating scales, resting-state functional near-infrared spectroscopy, and naturalistic observations.ResultsAutism Behavior Checklist and Autism Treatment Evaluation Checklist total scores decreased at intervention completion and further at follow-up. The Social Responsiveness Scale, Second Edition total T-score and Repetitive Behavior Scale- Revised total score decreased initially, then increased at follow-up; the former approached baseline, while the latter remained below baseline. Connectivity between bilateral prefrontal regions and between the left prefrontal and bilateral sensorimotor regions increased at intervention completion and remained above baseline at follow-up. Scores on the study-developed Kindergarten Adaptive Behavior Scale increased, as did classroom participation. The child completed all LIFUS sessions, with brief initial resistance and anxiety but no adverse events leading to intervention discontinuation.ConclusionConclusion This case provides preliminary evidence on the feasibility of implementing the combined intervention. Some behavioral and adaptive measures showed favorable trends alongside changes in functional brain connectivity, but follow-up trajectories varied across measures. The added benefit of LIFUS and the efficacy and safety of the combined intervention require further evaluation.

摘要:Over the past several decades, with the continuous and ongoing advancement of modern research technologies, electroencephalography (EEG) has increasingly come to be recognized as one of the most important and extensively employed technical approaches for exploring the neural mechanisms of individuals with hearing impairment. In contrast to neuroimaging techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging and magnetoencephalography, EEG possesses a number of notable advantages, including its non-invasive nature, high temporal resolution, relatively low acquisition costs, and freedom from the constraints imposed by metallic implanted devices. Owing to these merits, EEG is particularly and especially suited to hearing- impaired populations who wear hearing aids or cochlear implants, and it has therefore become a preferred tool in this field of research. Based on a total of 380 relevant academic papers incorporated in the Web of Science core collection database, the present study adopted CiteSpace, a bibliometric visualization software, to systematically and comprehensively examine the literature from a variety of dimensions, encompassing publication volume, the countries of publication, principal researchers, keyword clustering, and burst terms. The primary aim of this study was to acquire an in-depth understanding of the current research status, research hotspots, and frontier trends that characterize the field of EEG research on hearing impairment, so as to offer a comprehensive overview of the developmental trajectory of this domain. The results of the analysis revealed that, since 2017, the volume of publications in this field has manifested a significant and remarkable growth trend, with a particularly prominent upsurge observed in 2022, when the annual publication count reached 49 articles. This surge may plausibly be associated with the increasing and growing attention paid by the international community to hearing care. In terms of geographic distribution, the United States ranked first in publication output, followed by Germany and China, which jointly constitute the main driving forces of research in this area. Furthermore, researchers in this domain come from multidisciplinary backgrounds, encompassing disciplines such as psychology, neuroscience, linguistics, and automation, which reflects the inherently cross-disciplinary nature of this research field. By combining high-frequency keywords with keyword clustering analysis, it was found that biological indicators for hearing diagnosis and assessment, dynamic changes in the auditory cortex, and social cognition constitute the current hot topics within EEG research on hearing impairment. Moreover, the analysis of burst terms indicates that research trends are primarily manifested in three respects: the enrichment of research perspectives from unimodal plasticity to multimodal plasticity, the expansion of research subjects from early childhood to older adults, and the escalating complexity of data processing from time-domain analysis to time-frequency analysis. Taken together, these trends point to an increasingly diversified and integrative orientation of future research in this field. Based on these findings, future EEG research on hearing impairment in China should strengthen interdisciplinary cooperation, pay close attention to individual differences, expand sample sizes and conduct longitudinal studies, and promote the localization of research efforts. These measures are expected to provide a scientific basis for revealing the neural mechanisms, clinical diagnosis, rehabilitation strategies, and educational practices pertaining to individuals with hearing impairment, thereby supporting both theoretical progress and practical applications in this area.

摘要:ObjectiveThis study aimed to explore the efficacy of electroencephalogram biofeedback therapy combined with individualized precise family intervention in improving social interaction, cognitive function, language communication ability and quality of life in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), so as to provide references for optimizing clinical rehabilitation intervention programs for ASD children..MethodsA total of 60 ASD children meeting the inclusion criteria who received rehabilitation treatment in our hospital from January 2024 to March 2025 were enrolled and randomly divided into the routine group and combined group, with 30 cases in each group. The routine group received institutional routine rehabilitation intervention combined with basic family guidance. On the basis of routine intervention, the combined group was additionally treated with EEG biofeedback therapy and implemented systematic and individualized precise family intervention. Before and after intervention, the Social Responsiveness Scale (SRS), Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence-Fourth Edition (WPPSI-IV), Sign-Significance Relation (S-S) scale, Childhood Autism Rating Scale-Second Edition (CARS-2), Autism Treatment Evaluation Checklist (ATEC) and Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory 4.0 for Young Children (PedsQL) were used to comprehensively evaluate and compare core symptoms, cognitive level, language ability, social function and quality of life of children in the two groups.ResultsAfter intervention, all evaluation indicators of children in both groups were significantly improved compared with those before intervention (P<0.05). The SRS, CARS-2 and ATEC scores of the two groups decreased obviously, and the scores in the combined group were significantly lower than those in the routine group. The S-S, WPPSI-IV and PedsQL scores of the two groups increased significantly, and the improvement in the combined group was superior to that in the routine group, with statistically significant between-group differences (P<0.05).ConclusionThe combined regimen of EEG biofeedback therapy and individualized precise family intervention can effectively ameliorate social deficits, language disorders and core autistic symptoms of ASD children, and significantly improve their cognitive function and quality of life. Its rehabilitation effect is better than that of conventional intervention, which has high clinical application value and promotion significance.

摘要:Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a multifactorial neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by communication deficits, impaired social interactions, repetitive and stereotyped behaviors with restricted interests, and connected with the interaction between environmental factors and genetic vulnerability. Speech and language impairment (SLI) are common in neurodevelopmental disorders, especially in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) which may result in learning, socialization, and mental health difficulties, therefore early intervention is crucial. Based on previous studies abroad, the progress of research on the mechanism, clinical characteristics, assessment, diagnosis, intervention and treatment of comorbid with SLI in ASD was reviewed in this paper. This study aims to identify the manifestations of SLI in ASD patients in the early stage and timely intervention .

摘要:ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between the levels of vascular endothelial factors and the microcirculation of the inner ear in elderly patients with sudden sensorineural hearing loss, as well as its impact on their auditory function.Methods95 elderly patients with sudden sensorineural hearing loss were studied at our hospital from March 2021 to June 2024. They were categorized based on the severity of their condition into a mild-to-moderate hearing loss group (n=49) and a severe-to-profound hearing loss group (n=46). A comparison was made between the general clinical profiles and disease characteristics of the two groups. The levels of vascular endothelial factors [vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) 1α, homocysteine (Hcy)] and inner ear microcirculation indicators [soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule (sVCAM), endothelin (ET)] were assessed and compared before treatment. The relationship between clinical features, vascular endothelial factor levels, inner ear microcirculation indicators, and the development of severe hearing loss in elderly patients with sudden sensorineural hearing loss was analyzed using Spearman correlation test, as well as univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis.ResultsPatients in the severe-to-profound hearing loss group had a higher average age, and significantly higher proportions of diabetes mellitus and vertigo. Serum levels of VEGF, HIF-1α, Hcy, sVCAM, and ET in the severe-to-profound hearing loss group were significantly higher than those in the mild-to-moderate hearing loss group (P<0.001). Spearman correlation analysis showed that all five indicators were positively correlated with the severity of hearing loss (rs=0.431-0.479,P<0.001).After adjusting for confounding factors such as age and diabetes mellitus, multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that VEGF(OR=1.342,95%CI:1.064-1.693,P=0.013),HIF-1α(OR=4.808,95%CI:1.149-6.700,P=0.003),Hcy(OR=1.546,95%CI:1.021-2.339,P=0.039),sVCA(OR=1.097,95%CI:1.039-1.158,P<0.001),and ET(OR=1.413,95%CI:1.080-1.849,P=0.012) remained independent risk factors for severe hearing loss.ConclusionThe degree of vascular endothelial injury and inner ear microcirculation disturbance is closely related to the severity of hearing loss in elderly patients with SSNHL. Detection of serum VEGF, HIF-1α, Hcy, sVCAM, and ET levels before treatment can assist in assessing the severity of the disease and provide an objective basis for formulating individualized treatment plans.
