Development of Home Activity-Centered Rehabilitation Program for Infants and Toddlers with Hearing Impairment
With the advancement of newborn hearing screening programs in China and the widespread adoption of the "early identification
early diagnosis
and early intervention" principle
a growing number of hearing impairment cases have been identified in younger children. This study examines the limitations of existing rehabilitation programs for infants and toddlers with hearing loss and proposes a family-activity-based rehabilitation curriculum aimed at enhancing the quality of rehabilitation services for this age group. Grounded in Bronfenbrenner's ecological systems theory and the family-centered early intervention service model
the curriculum is designed through the integration of daily life scenarios and family resources. It systematically addresses the stage-specific developmental characteristics and individualized rehabilitation needs of infants and toddlers with hearing loss
while establishing an effective parental learning framework to empower caregivers to fully assume their leading role in the rehabilitation process.
