Research Landscape of Auditory Evoked Potentials in Cochlear Implants
This study aims to systematically analyze the research status
hotspots
and development trends of auditory evoked potentials (AEPs) in the field of cochlear implants (CIs) from 1999 to 2025 using bibliometric methods
so as to provide a reference for scientific research planning and clinical practice.
Methods
2
Relevant publications were retrieved from the Web of science Core Collection. Using tools such as VOSviewer and CiteSpace
568 included articles were analyzed in terms of annual distribution
country/institution collaboration
core authors
highly-cited literature
as well as keyword co-occurrence and burst detection.
Results
2
The annual publication output showed a fluctuating upward trend
with peaks in 2022 and 2024. The University of Toronto and the United States were identified as the most productive institution and country
respectively. Highly-cited literature focused on critical periods in auditory development and electrophysiological assessment standards. A Keyword analysis revealed that research has evolved from initial explorations of electrical stimulation and neural mechanisms to more refined techniques
such as hearing preservation and intracochlear electrocochleography
reflecting a shift toward multidisciplinary integration.
Conclusion
2
Research on AEPs in the CI field is transitioning from basic mechanisms to clinical applications and multimodal assessment. Future efforts should further integrate neurocognitive and big data technologies to achieve more precise preoperative prediction and comprehensive rehabilitation management.
