A Review on the Mandarin Tone Perception of Children with Cochlear Implant
Large individual differences in Mandarin tone perception scores were observed in paediatric cochlear implant (CI) recipients. In comparison with the CI children having the same chronological age
children with earlier CI implantation had longer duration of CI use
which might help them achieve better tone perception. However
the outcomes of children with CI were lower than that of normal-hearing children of the same age. For children with CI
the most difficult to distinguish was tone pair 2-3
consistent with that of normal peers.
