Objective To explore the consistency of digital assessment and manual assessment on the ability in children with autism spectrum disorder(ASD). Method 30 ASD children aged 2-8 years were recruited with the within-subject experimental design for digital assessment and manual assessment respectively. Results The digital and manual assessment had a high consistency(average >80%)
and were not affected by ASD children’s gender and age. The score of children’s digital assessment was significantly lower than that of manual assessment(P<0.05). After controlling the experience of using the tablet
there was no statistically significant difference in the scores between the two methods(P>0.05).Compared to manual assessment
digital assessment saved an average of 23 minutes per ASD children. Conclusion The digital assessment has a high consistency with manual assessment
which can accurately assess the ability of ASD children
and can save more time cost. The digital assessment may underestimate the ASD children’s performance
however it can be compensated by practicing the preparatory skills of the operation.
